"You are easy to talk to." "You helped me see a new way of looking at that." "I wouldn't have gotten here without your help." (Discharging patient.)
During the first session, we get to know each other. In future sessions, we will reflect on time since our last session (what worked or didn't work), new techniques to try, and we usually laugh. I sometimes give homework, depending on the needs.
We will talk about your history, since you are the expert on you. We will talk about what stressors you have, and I can recommend ways to approach them. In some ways, I am a "life coach".
I specialize in helping people who are struggling, who need someone to listen, an outsider's perspective to give them direction for the next step, or simply a soft place to land. Many people see their therapy session as their "me time".
I became a therapist, because I love to help people. I have seen so many people in other settings who just needed someone to listen and guide them.
I offer telehealth therapy. I have limited access to a private office in Orange Park. My dog sometimes comes into my home office during sessions.
I am a Christian Counselor. I do not apologize for my beliefs. I do not provide therapy to those who participate in the LGBTQ+ or polygamy lifestyles, as I am not equipped to address those issues.
